JANUARY EVENT - ARROWHEAD C.C.: Arrowhead was a fantastic event, as usual. Thanks to Bruce McNee and his most accommodating staff, we had a wonderful day at Arrowhead. It was a bit on the cool side, but some comments were that the weather and the course were perfect! We had 71 amateurs and 20 professionals making up 23 foursomes (1 blind draw). The top 7 teams finished in the money. The amateur purse was $2770, and the pro purse was $1580. The Optional Cash Pool paid $1634. The Hole-in-One Pot is now at $104 ($18 was left over from last year). The Ted King Tournament of Champions Fund is being started again, and we have $364 after our January event.

FEBRUARY EVENT - ENCANTERRA: Encanterra is a great golf course! Very fun, and well worth the drive to San Tan Valley. It's easy to get to with all the newer highways, so mark your calendars and plan to play on February 20. It's a 12:30 shotgun start.

THIS AND THAT: Congratulations to the following players who are new qualifiers for the 2012 Ted King T of C by placing 1st or 2nd as a team and/or individual at Arrowhead C.C.: G. Parkinson (pro), T. Basso, J. Welsh, R. Murray* (pro), J. Rogers*, D. Iwata, T. Trundle, B. Schmierer (pro), B. Baird (pro), T. Matthews (pro), M. Franko (pro), M. Cunning (pro), M. Mitchell, R. Brown, R. Hubbard, B. Feilner*, R. Hatfield, R. Barton, J. Gouge, B. Wallentine, P. Badour
(*=not a fully-paid member)

That's all for now, gentlemen. I hope to see you all at Encanterra!

SLOW PLAY vs. READY GOLF:

1. When it is your turn, you should be ready to swing. If you are not ready, other players should hit.

2. A player hitting a questionable ball should hit a provisional ball before leaving the teeing ground. Only the player who hit the questionable ball should be looking for it. All others should play their shots before looking for the lost ball. Five minute time starts when the first player begins looking for the ball.

3. Each golf cart should go directly to your first ball. Drop a player off and go to the next ball.

4. After you hit, get in the cart. You can put your club away when you arrive at the next ball being played.

5. When on the green, you should have read your putt and be ready to play when it is your turn.

6. Players are encouraged to use 'continuous putting' when possible. Do not mark your ball after your first putt, but rather continue to putt out. However, should you find you will interfere/stand in someone's line, then mark your ball and wait your turn.

7. Mark scores on the next tee. If it is your turn to hit, mark scores after you hit.

8. Most important....Keep up with the group ahead of you.
