AUGUST EVENT, GOLF CLUB OF SCOTTSDALE: The Golf Club of Scottsdale (GCS) was everything we had hoped for, and more! The course was a challenge to some, but not so to others. Some of the lowest scores of the year were posted at GCS, and the team scores were typical as at other venues, with the low team scoring 124. We plan to go back next year, so if you missed it this year, don't dismay. We had 49 amateurs and 14 professionals, including PGA Tour veteran Curt Byrum. The amateur purse was $1990, and the professional purse was $1150. Our T of C Prize Pool supplement is now at $2329.

NEXT EVENT, WIGWAM GOLF RESORT-GOLD COURSE: The GOLD course at Wigwam is the best! We have not had an event there, at least not in recent years. So, this should be a fun event as we revisit a course that has been a golf staple in the Valley for years. Get your entry in ASAP!

THIS AND THAT: The Les Wimp Memorial Junior Golf tournament is September 11, 2010, at Fountain of the Sun C.C. Please get a team of juniors from your club to participate. Contact Loren Foye at (480) 893-8570 or (602) 463-4131 to enter a team. Thanks to those who have already done so. And thanks to all who participated in the raffle at GCS. The added ticket sales were much appreciated!

Congratulations to John Benda and Mike Cunning for making the cut in the British Sr. Open Championship. And, congratulations to Ralph West and Tim Matthews for making the cut at the U.S. Sr. Open Championship. We are proud to have such great players involved in the SWSGA! Way to go, guys!
That's all for now folks. Hope to see you at the Wigwam!

Susie Urry - Tournament Director

SLOW PLAY vs. READY GOLF:

1. When it is your turn, you should be ready to swing. If you are not ready, other players should hit.

2. A player hitting a questionable ball should hit a provisional ball before leaving the teeing ground. Only the player who hit the questionable ball should be looking for it. All others should play their shots before looking for the lost ball. Five minute time starts when the first player begins looking for the ball.

3. Each golf cart should go directly to your first ball. Drop a player off and go to the next ball.

4. After you hit, get in the cart. You can put your club away when you arrive at the next ball being played.

5. When on the green, you should have read your putt and be ready to play when it is your turn.

6. Use continuous putting on the putting green. Do not mark your ball after your first putt. Mark ball only if you will be standing in someone's line. Otherwise, just putt out.

7. Mark scores on the next tee. If it is your turn to hit, mark scores after you hit.

8. Most important....Keep up with the group ahead of you.
